Queenslanders To Shine At Training Awards
One hundred and five students and 75 businesses from all over Queensland have been selected from hundreds of impressive nominees to be named finalists in the six regional finals of the Queensland Training Awards.
Employment, Training and Industrial Relations Minister Tom Barton said the outstanding quality of the 770 nominations received for this year awards illustrated the depth of talent across the state in the area of vocational education and training.
Mr Barton said the government was focussed on using training to address skills shortages and skills development in the state's key industries and businesses and individuals alike had taken up the challenge to be better trained.
"Queenslanders are clearly committed to training and as a result the whole state will see the benefits of this commitment in the future, through enhanced personal development, increased employment opportunities and the boosting of local and state economies.
"It is important that these individuals and organisations are appropriately recognised for the enormous contributions they are making to their communities-the Queensland Training Awards are an excellent way to do this", he said.
The Queensland Training Awards - with nine categories - are the state's highest accolade for training excellence and reward apprentices, trainees, vocational students, employers, schools, training providers and others dedicated to training.
