Noosa Regional Gallery
Quiet Letters, an exhibition of etchings and artists'
books by Glen Skien and Tracey Heathwood
January 21 to February 2, 2005
Opening 2 pm Saturday January 22,2005.
Quiet Letters is the inaugural exhibition of Silent Press Studio, established by Mackay based printmaker Glen Skien in 2000. With an affinity for both the etching process and mixed media, Glen continues to alternate between the two mediums. In June 2004 Glen formed a creative partnership with Mackay printmaker Tracey Heathwood an artist with strong connections to etching and the artists' book.
Glen's exhibition "Small Ceremonies" consisting of boxed artists' books was a most popular exhibit at Noosa Regional Gallery last year and his two day workshop was a total "sell out". The core concerns of Glen's work is the continuous search for intimate visual language which relates to personal experience, memory and the thought of the viewer participating and engaging in a sense of ceremony. Tracey's work expresses a sense of exploration into family history and personal experience.
