3 August 2005 Reading rocks at City's libraries this month
Children's Book Week will be rocking at Caloundra City Libraries this month with a great line up of activities being planned.
Caloundra City Mayor Cr Don Aldous said he hoped children would be inspired by the theme of Children's Book Week this year, Reading Rocks.
"From painting rocks to storytelling, puzzles, chalk drawing and a very special presentation by Kawana High performing arts students, there is something for everyone," Cr Aldous said.
Book vouchers are also up for grabs in the Guess the Winners competition, where participants are asked to guess the winner in each of the five Children's Book Awards categories. Entries for this competition close Friday 19 August, with entry forms available from all library branches.
Activity sessions will be held at all four branches during the week long celebrations. Details of all the activities on offer are attached.
"While some sessions are already fully booked, there are still plenty of activities to choose from," Cr Aldous said.
Cr Aldous also encouraged children to check out the Children's Book Week displays at all libraries.
"Reading is a wonderful pastime that can help with early literacy and self confidence, and with the high quality of books shortlisted this year, this is a great opportunity to discover, or renew an interest in this popular pastime. "
