Ready, set, OPEN!
The Maroochy Boulevard will be open to the public to traverse for the first time this Saturday.
From 3pm Saturday 11 August, the public will have the first chance to celebrate the completion of a significant milestone project for the Sunshine Coast.
The Maroochy Boulevard Interchange - the gateway to the Maroochydore city centre - marks the completion of a combined infrastructure project worth over approximately $47 million in total by Maroochy Council, the Department of Main Roads, Neumann Contractors and Chardan Development Group.
Maroochy Mayor Joe Natoli said that the project's completion is a major achievement for all stakeholders involved.
"With over 12 months in construction, 1000 cubic metres of concrete, 40,000 square metres of mulch and 230 tonnes of reinforcing steel, the Boulevard and Interchange completion is a major achievement," Cr Natoli said.
"The opening will be a historical day for the Maroochy community and a great celebration for all involved."
The opening will be held on the Maroochy Boulevard Interchange tomorrow, Saturday 11 August from 3-5.30pm, and will be the first and only opportunity for the public to traverse the Boulevard before it opens.
The days festivities will include a live broadcast by local radio station Hot 91, skydivers, roving entertainment, School's Challenge, food and coffee stalls and lucky door prizes.
Event parking will be available on the day off Wises Road.
