Evie is a 20 month old Sunshine Coast toddler who has Cystic Fibrosis. Evie's plight, accompanied by her spirited personality and big blue eyes, has provided inspiration for this annual event. Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is one of the most serious genetic diseases effecting Australians today. About 1 in every 2500 children are born with CF. One in 25 people carry the gene for CF but are unaware of it. If two people who each carry the gene have children there is a 1 in 4 chance in every pregnancy that the child will be born with the disease. The average life expectancy for a CF sufferer is about 30 to 35 years. CF affects the digestive, respiratory and reproductive systems. The severity and symptoms of the disease vary greatly due to genetics and environmental factors. Evie spends a lot of time in hospital fighting lung infections and has medication, physiotherapy and nebulised drugs every day to help her to breathe.
Cystic Fibrosis Queensland helps kids, like Evie, to live a better quality of life through providing respiratory equipment and accommodation for her parents during hospital visits. Last years event raised $13 000 for Cystic Fibrosis Queensland. So come along this year, have a great time and help to make a difference to Sunshine Coast families living with Cystic Fibrosis.

Mantra Mooloolaba Beach is holding it's annual charity dinner on Saturday, 15th September 2007 to raise funds to continue the brilliant work of Cystic Fibrosis Queensland.
Cystic Fibrosis is the most commonly inherited life threatening condition facing Australians.  One in every 2500 Australian child is born with Cystic Fibrosis.  A defective gene causes the body to produce a large amount of abnormal mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life threatening infections.  Other areas are also affected including the digestive system, liver and reproductive system.  There is currently no cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis Queensland Ltd (CFQ) is a not-for-profit charitable organisation that provides counselling and support services to over 630 Queenslanders affected by Cystic Fibrosis and their families.  This includes a range of services including: counselling, accommodation, respiratory equipment and education for those living with Cystic Fibrosis.
We would love your organisation to be part of this event by offering a donation of a gift voucher or product to be raffled or auctioned off on the night.
