Retail Strategies bearing fruit 30/01/2006
Noosa Council's concerted campaign to support the Shire's retail precincts is gaining momentum, with the Noosa Junction about to launch its new "Brand Expression", in the form of a logo and street banners identifying the area as an entertainment precinct.
Works & Community Services Chair Cr Vivien Griffin declares herself delighted with the results of the Retail/Commercial Precincts Strategy, which has been developed by Council's Economic Strategies & Innovations Unit.
"We have commissioned consultant Carolyn Bullen to work as a facilitator with an initial five precincts : Noosaville, Pomona, Peregian Beach and Tewantin in addition to Noosa Junction. Their well planned and proactive strategies were put to Council for funding approval late last year," said Cr Griffin.
"In the case of Noosa Junction, the traders' declared objective is to develop an effective tactical marketing initiative to position the area as an entertainment precinct i.e. food, street entertainment, art exhibitions and demonstrations, street theatre, combined schools art, drama, dance, film & television, music, photography display and performance.
"The overall purpose of the programme is to help strengthen the market position of the Shire's retail businesses," explained Cr Griffin. "The Noosa Junction group seems to be well down the track of achieving its goals and the Junction 'brand' launch is to be held on Tuesday, February 7th at 6.00 pm in the forecourt of the Noosa Cinema Complex.
