The rare and endangered Richmond Birdwing Butterfly will be the topic of a special presentation at Beerwah Library next week.
Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve Education Officer Greg Ivey and Ray Seddon of the Richmond Birdwing Recovery Network will share their passion and enthusiasm for the local environment as part of a special talk, Rainforest Plants and Butterflies, from 2pm next Wednesday 7 November at the Beerwah branch library.
Since the 1980's the Richmond Birdwing Butterfly has been the flagship species for raising public awareness of the loss of habitats in coastal sub-tropical rainforests.
Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve is recognised as the core breeding habitat of the butterfly in Caloundra City.
