Rock Out for the Drought this Saturday

MAROOCHYDORE, SUNSHINE COAST - Ocean Street’s iconic Solbar will host a fundraising concert for drought-stricken farmers this Saturday night, September 8th.

After raising $1,500 for Rural Aid last month with their Parma for a Farmer event, Solbar’s decided to up the ante; they’re putting on a live concert and donating the profits to drought relief.

Rockabilly renegades The Hi-Boys and blues busking legend Dan Horne will have punters hootin’ and hollerin' for a good cause this Saturday.

“THESE GUYS ARE LOCAL LEGENDS AND ARE ALWAYS A REALLY GOOD TIME”.

Tickets are only $10 and all profits from their sale will be donated to Rural Aid’s ‘Buy a Bale’ initiative, delivering bales of fodder to drought-affected farmers to feed their livestock.

With some sources now stating that many farming regions are enduring the worst drought conditions they’ve seen in 100 years, Solbar’s team sees community support as a necessity.

“THIS IS SUCH A GREAT INITIATIVE AND AFTER SUCH OVERWHELMING SUPPORT WITH OUR PARMA FOR A FARMER CAMPAIGN IT SEEMS LIKE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO HELP OUT AGAIN. WE LOVE LOCAL MUSIC AND LOVE THAT WE CAN BAND TOGETHER TO GET EVERYONE INVOLVED.” Says Solbar’s Manager, Hayley Bridger.

The ‘Rock Out for the Drought’ concert is shaping up to be a fun night of great music where Sunny Coasters can meet up, rock out and raise some much needed funds for our farmers in need.

The concert will begin at 8pm on Saturday the 8th of September and tickets are available on the door on the night.
