This holiday season along the East Coast of Australia, there will be a series of events under the banner EVENTS ON BIKES. As a pilot run for this project on behalf of The House With No Steps, Noosa will host the inaugural event “SANTAS ON BIKES” on Gympie Terrace, Sunday 18 December at 3pm.
Event Coordinator Barry Maloney explains that this is a free entry event for young and old and only requires that participants dress as a Santa (or Christmas theme) and follow an escort of Police on Bicycles.
Participants in the event will assemble at Lions Park, Noosaville prior to 3pm and proceed south to Weyba Road and then return to Lions Park. This event will precede the Annual Carols by the River conducted by The Noosa Christian Outreach Church at this lovely venue on Noosa River, where there will be refreshments available.
Whilst there are already volunteers from House with no Steps and from around Noosa, more are welcome. This will be a fun event for a good cause, so join in by either riding your bike of assisting with marshalling.
A particular invitation is extended to the Schools of Noosa, Tewantin, Sunshine Beach, Peregian, and Eumundi to participate in this the Inaugural Event On Bikes that next year is expected to extend along the East Coast of Australia.
In supporting the initiative, Noosa Biosphere Chair Micahel Donovan thanked Barry Maloney for his enthusiasm and initiative in organising and promoting ‘Santas on Bikes’.
"Noosa Biosphere encourages families to join in on the day as a community activity that promotes friendship, outdoor activity, healthy lifestyle and social cohesion across our wonderful biosphere," said Mr Donovan.
