The 2018 Annual SCAC Open Day will be at Sunshine Coast Aero Club hangar, Sunshine Coast Airport on Saturday March 10 2018 starting at 8am and finishing at 4pm.

The Open Day will provide an opportunity for the public to view SCAC in action with other aircraft and airport service providers.

We will be supporting our community through:

1. The WOAW “Fly it Forward” initiative. (On the day we will provide more than 50 women the opportunity to pilot an aircraft under the supervision of our expert instructors). See below for further info

2. Static displays such as Royal Australian Air Force Aircraft (including the female flight crew), airport firefighting equipment, additional rotary and fixed wing aircraft, and aviation related displays. (All aircraft displays subject to confirmation and weather)

3. ‘OZ Runways’ Electronic Flight Bag demonstration.

4. View club aircraft and facilities and chat to club members

Food and drinks will be available throughout the day.

‘Women of Aviation Worldwide Week’ is a global outreach initiative that promotes the advancement of women in aviation.

In conjunction with Women of Aviation Worldwide

The SCAC is hosting the ‘Fly it Forward’ initiative on Saturday 10th March 2018 commencing at 8am.

The ‘Fly it Forward’ concept is simple. Invite women who have an interest in a career in aviation and never flown a light aircraft with the aim of giving them the experience of piloting an aircraft. ‘Fly it Forward’ is a call to action urging all pilots to pass along the gift of flight to women to reduce the aviation gender gap.

Many flying clubs across Australia, and globally, will be participating in the initiative. SCAC is giving women (14 years and over) the opportunity to actually fly the aircraft themselves under the expert instruction of a fully qualified flight instructor. Our goal is to give more than 50 women this experience at the 10th March Event. SCAC is providing the flight for free with the $25 flight registration fee donated to ‘Make a Wish’. We are also providing a discounted ‘Hands on Action Flight’ for anyone who misses out on the initial 50 Fly it Forward passes.

Sunshine Coast Aero Club is a not for profit community organisation with professional flight training facilities operating from the Sunshine Coast Airport and the only aero club on the Sunshine Coast. Established in 1959 SCAC has operated from our current location at the Sunshine Coast Airport. In recent years SCAC has continued to develop flight training options and is now recognised as one of the leading flight training facilities on the Sunshine Coast focusing on providing affordable training courses in the Light Sport Aircraft category and advanced skills training. SCAC has for many years provided flight training for aspiring aviators, contributed to the local economy, and raised funds in support of local community groups and charities.
