Tour multimillion dollar STP during National Water Week
It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but with a free lunch thrown in, and a rare glimpse behind the scenes at an intricate biological process, it will be first in, best dressed for the free tour of the City's multimillion dollar Sewerage Treatment Plant later this month.
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said numbers are strictly limited for the free tour hosted by CalAqua as part of National Water Week (21-27 October) celebrations on Thursday 25 October.
"The theme this year is Water for Life, and with Council only last week commiting to a new Water Conservation Strategy for the City, this year's National Water Week celebrations are the perfect opportunity for all householders to get involved and become more WaterWise," Cr Aldous said.
The free tour will depart by bus from The Events Centre, Minchinton St at 9.30am and will return after 12.15pm. The tour will include a one hour tour of the Kawana Sewerage Treatment Plant followed by a light lunch.
Numbers are strictly limited. Bookings can be made by contacting Council's Customer Service Centre on ph 5420 8200.
Participants must wear flat, closed-in shoes and bring appropriate sun protection and water. In the event of wet weather, tour may be cancelled.
Other activities during National Water Week will include a CalAqua display at Kawana Shopping World, and the chance to win a great prize as part of a new survey designed to gauge public perception of the WaterWise message.
