SEWING NEWS – JULY 2012 The Tewantin Neighbourhood Group of the Australian Sewing Guild will meet on Saturday 28th July 2012 at the Masonic Hall, Moorindil St, Tewantin QLD commencing at 9 am until 3.00 pm. MARTYN SMITH will give a presentation on the various and correct uses of a variety of Interfacings, Martyn is the Sales & Marketing Manager at McCall’s Pattern Service, Australia, and a regular contributor to Dressmaking with Stitches Magazine Australia, The meeting will be from 9 am to 3 pm. (Morning Tea provided). Please bring your lunch, note pad and lots of questions regarding interfacing.

Australian Sewing Guild was formed with the aim of ensuring that the art of sewing does not die. Its focus is mainly sewing by machine. It’s stated objectives are:
• To share and further the growth of the art of sewing.
• To bring sewers together and encourage the establishment of sewing groups,
• To encourage and maintain a high standard of craftsmanship.

There is a fee to join the Australian National Sewing Guild, it is a not for profit national organization. The groups are made up of enthusiastic people, with varying skills from the novice to the specialist; neighbourhood groups meet regularly throughout the country. Members of the Guild can attend any neighbourhood group. A list of all the neighbourhood groups in Australia and their meeting date and time is published in the national newsletter. Members of the Tewantin Group receive a monthly Newsletter, which provides information regarding what materials to bring for the various projects for each meeting, plus news of any regional sewing activities. Also we have a variety of books, patterns etc which can be borrowed by members Prospective new member and visitors always welcome. Cost for visitors $20. Members/Guild members $10.
