THE TEWANTIN NEIGHBOURHOOD GROUP and the Pomona Neighbourhood Group will hold a combined meeting on Saturday 18th April 09 commencing at 9 a.m.until 3 p.m. to be held at the Cooroora Secondary College, Summit Road, Pomona.
Guests will be: Maureen Thompson (author of 'Why not? Be your own designer') who will be our teacher for the first Special Event for the N.S.C. & H Region for 2009. The other speaker will be Narelle Grudgfield from 2World Tours.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO meeting on Saturday 25th April in Tewantin.
WHAT TO BRING FOR THIS MEETING
A luncheon plate to be shared by all and of course a paper and pen to take notes with. No sewing machines will be required for this meeting.
For the prospective new members, the Tewantin meetings are usually held at Masonic Hall, cnr Toolar & Moorindil Streets, Tewantin Qld, on the last Saturday of every month. It is an enthusiastic group of people, with varying sewing skills, from the novice to the specialist. One of the aims of the Guild is to ensure that the art of sewing does not die. Members bring their sewing machines and lunch and in a friendly environment explore both basic dressmaking and decorative sewing techniques.
Housed at the hall in Tewantin, is a library. It has an extensive collection of books on sewing including a complete set of the Singer Sewing books, the Kwik Sew Books and Australian Stitches and Machine Embroidery Magazines. There are also a number of Perpetual Patterns and a range of special tools, and other sewing related items. Members can borrow these items.
