THE TEWANTIN NEIGHBOURHOOD GROUP of the Australian Sewing Guild Inc meet on Saturday, 28th March at the Masonic Hall, cnr Toolar & Moorindil Streets, Tewantin Qld, commences at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The optional project for this month is Making a Bag on the overlocker, To participate it is essential that you have Basic Overlocking skills as this project will be teaching members ADVANCED OVERLOCKING skills, a professional teacher will run this course.
WHAT TO BRING FOR THIS COURSE
Overlocker, Instruction Book and all accessories, ruler, regular sewing items eg. Scissors, tape measure, hand sewing needles etc. if you have a rotary cutter, mat and ruler please bring them. Read your newsletter for a complete list.
For the prospective new members, the group is made up of enthusiastic people, with varying skills from the novice to the specialist. One of the aims of the Guild is to ensure that the art of sewing does not die. Members bring their sewing machines and lunch and in a friendly environment explore both basic dressmaking and decorative sewing techniques. Housed at the hall in Tewantin, is a library. It has an extensive collection of books on sewing including a complete set of the Singer Sewing books, the Kwik Sew Books and Australian Stitches and Machine Embroidery Magazines. There are also a number of Perpetual Patterns and a range of special tools, and other sewing related items. Members can borrow these items.
