A workshop in the community bamboo music percussion of West Java. Street music angklung are made entirely from bamboo and a community is needed to play the music. In a moment you can learn the shake, within an hour you will be a part of a street music band ready to parade through a festival. There are stories to hear, costumes to try on, cultural information and lots of fun.
Kari is an artist and musician who has won two scholarships to study at the Academy of Music in Bandung, Indonesia, and has completed a degree in Indonesian Language and Ethnomusicology in Australia.

artSynC is the Sunshine Coast Arts Incubator, established as an arts business incubator, and aims 'to be the engine driving the growth of the creative industries and community cultural development on the Sunshine Coast'.
We invite members of the community to participate in workshops across a range of artforms including sculpture, printmaking, portraiture, drawing, movement, book arts, screen writing, community art, music and writing. Workshop facilitators include accomplished artists such as Judy Barrass, Judith Rosenberg, Kenneth Coleman, Aravinda D'Angiolillo, Paul Johnson, Zjamal Xanitha, Sonia Louise Armstrong, Kari and Jane Abercrombie.
