Sunshine Coast Council invites residents to reawaken their food senses throughout April and May by attending a Slow Food session at local libraries across the Coast.
Julie Shelton from the Sunshine Coast Hinterland chapter of Slow Food will share the principles on how to consume tasty and satisfying food that is affordable for consumers and fair for producers.
Slow Food is an international non-profit organisation founded to counteract fast food and fast life which has attributed to the loss of local food traditions.
Library and Gallery Services Manager Ross Duncan said council was pleased to present the opportunity for residents to educate themselves on food quality and socially conscious production methods
“By booking into a Slow Food session residents will learn to rediscover their interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world,” he said.
“Connecting Sunshine Coast consumers to their local producers means easy access to quality, fresh food and in turn supports the Coast economy.”
