Sunshine Coast Council, in partnership with the Analogue Digital design conference, is calling all knitters and green artists to join international yarn bombing legend Magda Sayeg for a 2012 TreeLine program smartArts+ master class.

The special master class will be held on 3 May 2012 from 10am to 2.30pm at the Arts and Ecology Centre at Maroochydore Bushland Botanic Gardens.

Ms Sayeg, from Austin Texas, is the founder of Knitta Please - the knit graffiti group credited with spawning the international yarn bombing movement.  Her work has evolved to include a knitted/crocheted covered bus in Mexico City and works on commissions around the world with companies such as Mini Cooper and Smart Car among others.

This once in a lifetime yarn bombing master class will also suit community knitting groups, fashion students, sustainability champions and contemporary craft workers.

The cost to attend the master class is $12 per person. Bookings are essential by calling Caloundra Regional Gallery on 5420 8299. A light lunch and some materials will be provided.

Donations of yarn are very welcome and it would be appreciated if participants bring their own crochet hooks and knitting needles.
