"As the title suggests - Now That's Entertainment is sheer entertainment from start to finish. It features some of the world's best loved songs, including: That's Entertainment, Come Fly With Me, Mack the Knife, Lady is A Tramp, Strangers in the Night, As Time Goes By, Fever, Night and Day, Get Happy and many more," Ian says.
Set in the late 1950's with a backdrop of the wonderful Nightclub era, Now That's Entertainment tells the story of college graduate, Frank Marlow. Audiences will recognise some familiar faces amidst the cast, together with some talented new comers. Starring in the production are: Wayne Clark (who won the best actor award for 2006 One Act Play Competition at Noosa Arts); Blossom Goodchild (who recently wowed audiences with her portrayal of Evy Meara in The Gingerbread Lady); Sonia Petrack (Cabaret and Love List), and new comers to Noosa Arts, Grant Davis, Colin Donnelly and Jane Schiller. We are delighted to see the return of Marie-Louise Carroll (Dolly Levy in Hello Dolly) in her featured role as Marilyn Monroe, and Carly Partridge (Cabaret) who is bound to be a scene stealer in her role as Carmen Miranda.
Rehearsals for the production are in full swing and Director, Ian Mackellar, says he is delighted with the level of talent and enthusiasm amongst the cast. Sonia Petrack, who will also choreograph Now That's Entertainment, has brought together a troupe of excellent dancers to do justice to the vigorous and exciting dance numbers in the show.
Now That's Entertainment will have new brilliant lighting effects. The Queensland Government's Gambling Community Benefit Fund recently provided $21,927 to Noosa Arts Theatre to upgrade its stage lighting.
