Get ready for another year of a smorgasbord of incredible free live music at Noosa’s favourite venue, The J.
Co-ordinated and MC’d by local pied piper of music, Mr Jay Bishoff, this marvellous community event got up and running in January 2016 and has created an all-inclusive and unique musical experience for both the performers and the audience. The J is very lucky to have quality sound and lighting technicians running the Sound Feast event. There is comfortable tiered seating and groovy bean couches, a full bar and hot food available. The music begins at 6pm.
February’s Sound Feast promises an incredible line-up featuring Mapstone Music, Niq Reefman, The Dennis Sisters and Captain Dreamboat.
Multi- instrumentalist, story teller, singer, one-man-musical, Niq Reefman, has been dubbed as “Tim Minchin flying a trumpet through a thunderstorm” and is currently drawing attention globally with his eclectic Trumpeter-Singer-Songwriter abilities.
Mapstone's music brings together ancient traditions with modern music in a symbiotic merging of sound and ceremony, honouring all who have been, all who are and all who are yet to come. Mapstone have quickly emerged onto the roots music scenes in Australia, Canada and Bali. Their blend of conscious roots, world, reggae, and folk music is of the heart, for the heart and from the heart.
The Dennis Sisters are a talented Sunshine Coast duo who made their TV debut on The X Factor Australia in 2016. These top 30 finalists have been performing at many diverse venues and festivals while building their repertoire, with the aim to release their debut single in 2018.
Both sisters are passionate about performing and writing their own original material. With Tiana Dennis aged 17 years, on acoustic guitar and Briannah Dennis aged 18 years, grooving it out on the bass, these talented sisters switch between singing lead and beautiful sibling harmonies while their different tones blend together to form their own unique sound.
Returning to Sound Feast is the very popular band, Captain Dreamboat. The soul/R&B/jazz-inspired septet who hail from one of Brisbane's most musically vibrant locales, West End, features lead vocalist and songwriter Ofa Fanaika. Ofa has amassed a large local following over the past decade through her powerful solo shows and involvement with popular reggae/dub act Chocolate Strings. The band's sound harks back to classic soul of the ‘60s and ‘70s, with an unabashed emphasis on love songs, sumptuous melodies, rich vocal stacks and tight rhythmic foundations.
