Music Lovers on the Sunshine Coast are in for a real treat when world class bass, David Hibbard, joins OPERATIF! regulars for a stunning conclusion to their 2009 Daytime Concerts series at Maroochy Baptist Centre.
"David is such a fabulous artist, we are always thrilled when there is space in his busy schedule for him to join us for a concert or two," an OPERATIF! spokes-person said. "This is the perfect program for David to shine too....with its selection of fabulous stage moments."
David will sing a range or repertoire including the classic, Ol' Man River, from Showboat, a thrilling aria from Faust, where as Mephistopheles the Devil, he is trying to steal a young lady's soul, I Got Plenty o' Nuttin' from Porgy and Bess and I Remember It Well a comic duet from Gigi, all about those dreaded 'Senior Moments!'
Joining David will be soprano Jennifer Parish and baritone Stewart Cameron, with another fabulous artist, pianist John Colwill, being introduced to OPERATIF! fans. "John is so bubbly and such good fun," Jennifer said, "I know people will enjoy not only his brilliant playing, but his infectious love of every note in the concert." John's voice is heard on ABC radio as the commentator at live concert broadcasts. He is a stalwart of the Qld Music Teachers Association and known to many for his entertaining pre-performance talks at QPAC.
Other program highlights will include a passionate duet from the two lovers in Pagliacci, Love is Where You Find It, a dazzling showpiece sung by many a silver screen diva, the immortal Indian Love Song, All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera and the list goes on.
"This is a 'must see' performance,' Stewart said. 'With the quality of artists and the difficulty of some of the repertoire, one could expect to pay a good deal more than the mere $25 we charge for daytime series tickets.'
OPERATIF! have an extremely full calendar in 2010 and are unsure how often they may be able to offer these low cost Daytime Concerts on the coast next year. "We are organising a big Festival on Norfolk Island which is a huge commitment, we've our Brisbane Daytime series, (recently relocated to the old ballroom at Qld Irish Club), we've just confirmed a concert subscription series at Redcliffe Cultural Centre, there will be more Cooroy Amphitheatre concerts following the success of the first one... and that's just a start!" Jennifer said, "I feel dizzy just thinking about it all!"
"Stage Sensations" with OPERATIF! Tickets $25 -- ($20 for groups)
