Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) is a mindfulness-based approach in psychology that enables us to get our lives moving in rich, full and meaningful ways. A key component of ACT is ‘mindfulness’: a transformative mental state of awareness, openness and focus. In a state of mindfulness, you can let difficult thoughts and feelings freely flow through you, without getting caught up in them or pushed around by them, and without getting into a struggle with them. Mindfulness also enables you to engage fully in what you are doing, to maximise your pleasure and fulfilment, or enable peak performance.
NeLi Martin is a psychologist in private practice, a meditation and yoga teacher, who integrates her psychology training and many years of mindfulness study and practice.
Rachel Collis gained 15 years experience as a psychiatrist before moving into management consulting in 2001. She now lectures on the Executive MBA program at QUT and provides executive coaching, facilitation and workshops to organisations around Australia
