StreetWise Skateboarding clinics roll back to the Noosa Region
Noosa Shire Council and Skateboarding Australia are pleased to announce that the highly popular 'StreetWise' skateboard clinics are rolling back to Cooroy, Peregian Beach & Sunshine Beach for the fourth time this coming January summer school holidays.
'StreetWise' is Skateboarding Australia's targeted national sports development program for Skateboarding in Australia and is the only one of its kind in the world.
The 'StreetWise Coaching Sessions presented by Kewday‟ are designed to provide young Australians with the opportunity to get active, stay healthy and enjoy freestyle sports in a fun, safe and professionally managed environment.
Targeting girls and boys aged between 6-15yrs, StreetWise allows the youth of Australia a chance to pursue their sport of choice on a regular basis. (Just under a 1000 young people from across four states experienced the skateboarding sessions in 2006).
"It's great to see local councils supporting grassroots skateboarding and providing young skaters the opportunities to progress in a nationally recognised pathway, Skateboarding Australia Project Manager Glenn Walker said.
"We are stoked to be back in Noosa this summer and thank the council for their continued support."
Participants are grouped in the coaching sessions according to their ability, these sessions cater for Beginner, Intermediate & Advance Sessions. (All StreetWise participants are required to wear a helmet at all times*).
The StreetWise interactive coaching sessions are led by some of Australia‟s best freestyle sporting athletes and nationally recognized accredited coaches.
StreetWise will be 'dropping in' at Cooroy, Peregian Beach & Sunshine Beach Skate Parks from the 10th of January 2008, with sessions running for four hours over 2 days.
Thanks to the Noosa Council we are able to offer all Places for $20 * for the four hours of coaching workshops. (*Please note- Places are strictly on a first in best-dressed basis)
All StreetWise participants will also receive 2008 membership with Skateboarding Australia, personal accident insurance coverage, Kewday Hat, Slam skateboarding magazine, k-zone magazine, StreetWise Sweatband and ruler, lots of stickers and more.
