THE SUNCOAST SINFONIA

presents

ROMANTIC GUITAR!

The SUNCOAST SINFONIA provides an excellent standard of orchestral music and draws widespread critical acclaim for its brilliant soloists and thrilling ensemble playing.  From its inception in 2002, the Sinfonia has been conducted by Graeme Young.  However, Graeme has now handed the baton to Rita Paczian, an internationally acclaimed conductor now residing on the Sunshine Coast.  Born in Bielefeld, Germany, Rita gained her Master of Music (with distinction) in conducting, organ, harpsichord and singing at the universities of Dortmund and Lübeck and has conducted widely in Europe, South Africa and Australasia.  She is known for the high standard of her performances and has built an enviable reputation with both choral and orchestral recitals.

The Sinfonia's concerts feature a combination of well-known and captivating music, each one highlighting the talents of one or two superlative soloists.  The final concert for the year, Romantic Guitar on Sunday 13 August at 2.30pm, will feature the remarkable guitarist, Michael Knopf, who will tackle the "Everest" of all concertos, the popular Aranjuez by Rodrigo.  He plays a seven-string classical guitar and his performance style draws on various elements of his 40 year guitar-playing career.

Tickets are on sale at the Nambour Civic Centre phone 5475 7777 or at the door on the day at St Mark's Anglican Church, Main Street, Buderim.  Tickets include afternoon tea.
