Make sure your Sunday is a Funday

Sunday 18 November is Sunday Funday, a free Noosa Council event. Get involved in a host of activities designed to connect and celebrate our local community, at Noosaville Lions Park, Gympie Terrace, Noosaville from 11am-3pm.

Make your presence in the community felt by taking part in the Handprints of Noosa Project where creative workshops guide you in decorating your own street paver so that you can  'leave your mark' on Noosa when the pavers will be set along the Tewantin Riverfront in December.

Enjoy live music with Drew Wilson, The One Two, The William Moon Book Society, Noosa District Concert Band, Tewantin State School and Good Sheppard School.

See street theatre and dance performances. Get your face painted or get creative in the jewellery making workshops. There will also be storytelling and a host of games including giant inflatable Twister, tug-of-war, sack races, egg and spoon races, and a giant-sized Connect 4.

SUNDAY FUNDAY is an initiative of the Noosa Council Community and Recreation Development Unit, proudly supported by HOT FM and People First Finance.

BIO FOR DREW WILSON

Sometimes looks can be deceiving. Take Drew Wilson.

He sits down behind the microphone and straps on his small guitar; a 'Mini Maton'. At first glance the guitar would look right at home in the hands of a 10 year old and you start to become sceptical about what you're about to hear…. You will only make this mistake once as relief, coupled with awe and amazement kicks in hard! It takes only one strum to realise that the guitar packs a punch well above its weight; and only one word from his uncompromising, strong earthy voice to know that this Sunshine Coast singer/song-writer will be permanently engraved in your mind.

Drew has been delivering his brand of "Diesel-esque balladry to very receptive audiences" (KURT SANDERS, Rave Magazine April 2007) and is turning industry heads rapidly.

He has already been signed up to a full endorsement from MATON GUITARS, arguably Australia's premier acoustic guitar manufacturer, a string endorsement from newcomer DUKE NOIR, and a management deal through Wilson Music Management and is well on the way to being as Belinda Berry writes, "the next Pete Murray" (IMAGE Magazine, issue 03 April 07).

Within the first month of making the commitment to take his music career to the next level, Drew won the Hot FM 91.1 Mooloolaba Wharf Talent Quest and has impressed numerous Brisbane and Sunshine Coast music identities with his simple, melodic and catchy offerings. So much so that he has already supported some big name acts.

"Supporting acts like THE SCREAMING JETS, GLEN SHORROCK, DAN ENGLAND and 1927 has been fantastic and I have learnt a lot from these opportunities."

"What Drew has achieved in two months, I have seen other artists take up to 2 years to achieve!" (Stephen Green - Australian Music Biz).

Drew is currently working with producer JIMI MAROUDAS, (who has just finished Tim Rogers new solo project and has worked with the likes of Pete Murray, Ben Smith Band, Augie March...) and Drew's much anticipated EP "ANYMORE" is not too far away.

Keep an eye and ear out for his strong earthy voice and captivating melodies. Once you've heard them they will be permanently engraved in your mind.
