Enjoy a showcasing of the singing groups and choirs of the Sunshine Coast at the Sunshine Coast Choral Festival on Saturday 24 May at the Maroochy Baptist Community Centre starting at 1.30pm.
Nine Sunshine Coast Choirs and Groups will each sing works specially chosen for the Sunshine Coast Festival Concert and then come together as a massed choir of over 250 people to sing some fabulous classical choral pieces such as the Hallelujah Chorus and some very moving African and Gospel songs.
Tickets can be purchased at the door and are all concession priced at $10 with light refreshments included.
If you have been thinking of joining a choir on the Coast, come to this showcase of community group singing by the Buderim Male Choir, New World Rhythm, Noosa Chorale, Out of the Blue, Pomona A Cappella Choir, Spiritsong, Sunshine Coast Harmony Chorus, Sunshine Coast Choral Society and Vox 16.
These groups sing a wide variety of music including classical choral music, jazz, gospel and world music, so there is a choir for everyone and the concert will appeal to all musical tastes. The one common thread to come through the Choral Festival is the joy, camaraderie and fulfillment of singing together.
The massed choir will be conducted by Brian Martin and Adrian King and the Master of Ceremonies for the Concert will be Graham Webb of Sunshine FM 104.9. This year there will be an easily learnt concluding piece 'The Joining Song', which all choirs and audience can sing together. This will be a beautiful and moving experience.
The auditorium at Wises Rd Baptist Community Centre seats more than 500 people on padded tiered seating so everyone can comfortably enjoy the concert.
The Sunshine Coast Choral Festival is grateful to the Queensland Community Benefit Fund for providing funds to the Sunshine Coast Harmony Chorus to purchase the risers which will be used at this concert.
