Concert in support of Nambour Special School
The Sunshine Coast Concert Band will hold their first concert for 2007 in support of the Nambour Special School on Sunday, February 25 at 2pm at the Kawana Community Hall.
The band, led by musical director Ken Chadwick, will be accompanied by local singers, Tanya McFadyen and Alan Winter and the event will be hosted by compere, Cam Young of ABC Coast FM.
This is the fourth year the band has been involved in supporting the Nambour Special School. Last year the band performed twelve times, donating door takings to the Nambour Special School, Queensland Renal Association, Coolum High School Chaplaincy, Cancer Quest, Maroochydore Rotary and Sunshine Coast Legacy to name a few.
Musical director, Ken Chadwick, said the band was really looking forward to their first performance of the New Year.
"The support for the band was fantastic last year and as a result we were able to raise much needed funds for a range of local charities," he said.
"Those attending the concert will enjoy some of the favourites in the line up including, Phantom of the Opera Medley, The Pink Panther, MacArthur Park, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Benny Goodman Swing and Tijuana Brass, as well as a special appearance by the sax quartet, Charlies Angels, headed by Charlie Simm. The event promises to be a great afternoon of entertainment."
The versatile concert band performs music to suit all ages from classic to modern and everything in between.
Tickets for the concert are available at the door at a cost of $10, which includes afternoon tea. For more information please call 5450 6680.
