- How You Can Make a Difference -
Presented by Nicolle Edwards
In January, calls to the Queensland domestic violence crisis line were 3 times the number for the same time last year. This organisation takes over 8,000 calls every month from Queensland women who are in fear of or in immediate threat of danger from Domestic or Family Violence, and on average they assist over 600 of them, and often more than 800 children to be moved to safety every month.
I wanted to do something to help and that's why I'm running this breakfast to help raise awareness. At this breakfast, Nicolle Edwards, the CEO of RizeUp will be our guest speaker. Rizeup are a Queensland based charity.
When families leave a Domestic Violence refuge they move into a barren property which Rizeup transform into a purposefully created home, specific to each family's individual needs. Nicolle will share how you can help with this and help them make a difference.
Patrons of RizeUp are TV Personality Shelley Craft (The Block) and Mia Freedman, Founder of Mamamia.
As well as some stark facts and myths dispelled, there will be some heart warming stories about how lives have been changed with the assistance of this organisation.
If you would like to donate to RIZEUP, Gift cards of any value from Coles, Woolworths, KMart, Target etc would help a great deal to buy items as they are needed for each individual family's needs.
