Sunshine Coast produce set to star at Sunshine Coast Food Show, February 20-21
Sunshine Coast Council encourages local food and beverage producers to showcase their finest and freshest regional produce as the stars of the inaugural Sunshine Coast Food Show to be held at Novotel Twin Waters Resort from 20-21 February 2010.
Sunshine Coast Regional Council's Economic Development and Entrepreneurship Portfolio Chair, Councillor Lew Brennan said food tourism and food related events help support council's objective of ensuring a mature, diverse, robust and sustainable economy.
"One of our priorities is to create a wider base of economic sectors to enable the growth of more jobs across the region," Cr Lew Brennan said.
"Given the Sunshine Coast region boasts a cornucopia of delicious delicacies produced by local businesses, as part of council's economic development strategy, council is sponsoring this food show that will promote and showcase their produce" he said.
"I encourage all local producers to consider participating in the event and to take advantage of the major exhibitor incentives available for local businesses."
"The Sunshine Coast Food Show is a great chance for local businesses to showcase and sell the wide variety of local produce available in the region."
The Sunshine Coast Food Show already has a number of commitments in place from local stallholders offering tomatoes, cheeses, native foods, spring water, nuts, gelati, curry pastes and more for visitors to try, taste and buy.
Following a six course degustation dinner on the Saturday night featuring local produce, Sunday will see a four hour smorgasbord of local flavours on display from 12noon-4pm.
Local growers, food and beverage producers will rub shoulders with other exhibitors and thousands of visitors including MasterChef Australia judge, celebrity chef and restaurateur, George Calombaris.
An exciting entertainment line-up will be included as part of the event.
Exhibitors interested in participating in the Sunshine Coast Food Show should contact Novotel Twin Waters' Food and Beverage department on free call 1800 072 277 and state that they are local producers. Special accommodation rates are also available.

Local produce to tempt taste buds at inaugural Sunshine Coast Food Show
Novotel Twin Waters Resort will be the place to be this Sunday (21 February) from noon if you are a lover of great fresh food, award winning wines and toe tapping entertainment.
The Sunshine Coast Food Show, sponsored by Sunshine Coast Council, will offer a four hour showcase of the best food and beverage the Coast, and some of our leading Australian producers and exporters, have to offer to tickle the taste buds of local and visiting foodies.
Council's Economic Development and Entrepreneurship Portfolio Councillor, Lew Brennan, said that with more than 75 food and beverage exhibits, half of those representing businesses on the Coast, the show is the perfect venue at which to appreciate the smorgasbord of local produce available in the region.
"An important objective of Council's Economic Development strategy is to celebrate and promote the incredible diversity and quality of the food and beverage the Coast has to offer," Cr Brennan said.
"This show is about helping to achieve that objective. The show is about supporting the livelihoods of local producers, exposing residents and businesses to the range of produce available on their doorstep and promoting what we have to offer to the interstate and drive-market tourists who will be attending the show," Lew said.
"This kind of exposure has the potential to open up new markets - wholesale or supply - particularly with the number of high profile chefs and restaurateurs expected to attend the show."
The show program, all included in the entry price, will include four hours of food sampling, wine tastings, celebrity cooking demonstrations (with celebrity chef George Calombaris and Novotel's award winning chefs), cook book signings and live entertainment for all the family.
Tastebuds will be tempted by delicious delicacies including sushi, chocolate, gelato, sorbet, wine, cordials, seafood, cheeses, milk products, beer, conserves, condiments, liqueurs, curry pastes, tomatoes, nougat, spring water and soft drinks.
Sunday's Food Show tickets are $49 for adults and $25 for children including all tastings and entertainment.
Tickets are available on the day from the resort or can be pre-purchased on line at www.novoteltwinwatersresort.com.au or over the phone on 1800 072 277.
Sunshine Coast Regional Council is proudly supporting the event as part of Council's economic development strategy.
