Whether you grew up with The Seekers or you just like to hear some great music, you’re sure to love Sunshine Melodies with Keith Potger. Featuring some old favourites from The Seekers, a touch of Nashville, some beautiful original ballads from his three solo CDs and a few covers from the 1960s to the 1980s, this is a Sunshine Melodies you won’t want to miss.
As a founding member of the internationally famous Australian group The Seekers, Keith is already known to countless music industry professionals and fans of the group alike.
Awards such as Australian of the Year 1967, numerous Platinum and Gold Record achievements and concert tours have kept the group’s image alive and well for over four decades.
With his first two solo CDs, SECRETS OF THE HEART and SUNDAY, established in the Australian marketplace, Keith Potger released his newest CD, entitled SMILE NOW, in 2010. It is an album that builds on the image that Keith has of writing strong melodies and thoughtful lyrics.
Touring has been a rewarding part of Keith’s solo activities. Keith said: “Getting to know the loyal fans that have supported The Seekers and now my solo career is gratifying…now the icing on the cake is that they all seem to enjoy my original songs as well as the great hits that the group had in the ‘60s.”
Keith has been actively writing, ‘road-testing’ many of his songs while on tour in Australia and the UK. One in particular has caught the ear of his audiences and it has become the “bonus track” on SMILE NOW. It is a light-hearted spoof on what it takes to break into the country music market in Australia. The song is entitled NASAL TWANG and has audiences singing along.
Keith spent most of last year devoted to writing and arranging original music for a stage musical. However, live performances continue to provide a major part of Keith's activities and that important aspect of this entertainer’s life: meeting people and listening to their stories.
Keith is heavily involved with charity organisations which are a very important aspect of his life. He was Chair of the Australian music industry benevolent fund Support Act Limited Victoria until August 2010 and remains an active committee member. This is in addition to his ongoing positions as one of the Patrons of the Motor Neurone Disease Association of Western Australia and a Celebrity Ambassador for Variety Victoria and Variety International, the major children's charity.
