FROM CHENREZIG INSTUTUTE
A Centre for Buddhist Study, Meditation, Retreat & Practice
Taming the Monkey Mind with Compassion
With Venerable Thubten Gyatso (formerly Dr. Adrian Feldmann)
Saturday 17th January 9am to Sunday 18th January 4pm
This weekend course will provide us with the tools needed to tame the selfishness within and develop qualities of compassion that we can implement into our daily lives. Venerable Gyatso will use discussion and meditation to guide us through the shortcomings of self-centeredness and the benefits of cultivating the warm heart of loving kindness towards others.
About the teacher -- Venerable Thubten Gyatso
Born in Australia in 1946, Dr Adrian Feldmann graduated from the University of Melbourne with a degree in medicine. He practised his profession in Australia and overseas, but his wonderlust wouldn't rest. For several years he travelled through Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, eventually finding his way to a Tibetan monastery in Nepal, where his life took on a whole new meaning.
After much soul-searching, he became ordained as the Buddhist monk Thubten Gyatso. Since then he has run a free medical practice in Nepal; taught Buddhism, meditation, and founded monasteries in France, Australia and Mongolia. And it was Mongolia that stole his heart. Teaching Buddhism in Mongolia - after the Stalinist purges of the 1940s and 1950s had nearly wiped it out - was the highlight of his life.
He has written 2 very successful books and has just completed a three-year meditation retreat on Kangeroo Island.
