6.30pm Compadres del Vallenato & Cachicamo Colombian
dancers. $20, groups of four $70.
Tues 4th Melbourne Cup Luncheon with entertainment by the
11.30am hilarious, outrageous poet Shirley Friend, plus all the
traditional Cup Day fun, best hat comps etc, and of
course The Race on the Big Screen. Tickets $35
Sun 9th Lightning Spirit: Kerrianne Cox, an internationally
2pm renowned Aboriginal performing artist, with Black Velvet,
a contemporary indigenous band from Brisbane. A drug
and alcohol free event.
Fri 14th 14th Majestic Silent Film Festival: Gala opening night
6.30pm featuring the 1922 film version of Oliver Twist, with Lon
Chaney and Jackie Coogan. $20 (bookings essential)
Sat 15th Festival continues with a morning tea comedy , Battling
Butler (Buster Keaton) at 10.30, Spiders (the 1919
inspiration for the Indiana Jones films) at 2pm, and
Douglas Fairbanks as The Thief of Bagdad at 7.30.
Sun 16th Festival ends with short comedies in the morning (from
10.30) with Hangman's House (Victor MacLaglen) at 2pm
Fri 21st Gershwin's Got Rhythm: The music of Jazz Age
7.30pm master George Gershwin played by a sensational
quintet: Kevin Hunt, John Nicol, Bob Barnard, Willy Qua
and David Pudney. Adults $25 (conc $22) with the bar
operating and hot food available
Cinema Pomona screenings every second Sunday (Nov 2, 16 and 30)
