Last year’s first ever Caloundra Fringe Festival was surely an unparalleled success, attracting an impressive turnout of locals and visitors to each event involved. This year as part of the annual 11 day festival in lead up to the Caloundra Music Festival, we are pleased to announce the debut of an exciting new interactive live arts celebration, The Avant-gardeN Party, which we’re certain will be the absolute icing on the cake!
Presented and organised by Sunshine Coast’s creative collective “ARTsomble”, including the very talented local artist Krystle Sturgess, with the help of equally talented and like-minded contributors, Gavin O’Keefe, Emily Heidke, Elysium Greene, Rosalie Maguire among others, who are passionate about growing Sunshine Coast arts to its full potential. Krystle is a strong believer in the power of creative arts and community togetherness… with this event she reminds everyone to “create the world around you!”
“I saw the need for an INCLUSIVE arts platform to effectively connect, promote and develop greater opportunities for emerging and established artists… “After experiencing firsthand the growth that naturally followed after I engaged in live arts practices, the Avant-gardeN Party was born” said the very passionate Krystle when asked what inspired the event. “Our event has now sparked interest from artists all over Australia… “Not only does it generate a genuine experience for all involved and a rare opportunity to inspire one another, it also allows community to discover the wealth of talent within this region.”
The Avant-gardeN Party offers a unique FREE ENTRY opportunity for YOU to explore, engage and express through a vast range of installations, inspiration stations and workshops to say the least… and as the name suggests, it truly is a highly experimental showcase of all things creative and spectacular, featuring a bold array of heARTists from all across the South East Coast of Australia. We expect that it will do huge favours for Sunshine Coast tourism, showcasing not only local talent but also impressive interstate and world renowned artists such as mural street artist Guido van Helten, Gold Coast based art activist Elysium Greene (Handmade Change) and Sydney based contemporary artist Yvette Marie Tziallas (YMT) to name a few, who we anticipate will attract a passionate following.
The celebration is set to take place at Lions Park, Kings Beach Caloundra on the 29th September, kicking off at 11am and running late into the afternoon.
Workshops for all ages including hula hoop, henna, dance and live art performances is just a taste of what’s in store… The Avant-gardeN Party crew have also pulled together a massive game of finder’s keeper’s right across the Caloundra Fringe Festival as part of the global movement “Free Art Friday” Sunshine Coast, which gives everyone the chance to appreciate art and community!
There’s truly something for everyone, which makes The Avant-gardeN Party the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon this September School Holidays and with only weeks to go, we’re so excited to see what endless possibilities will amount! Keep up the good work Krystle and crew!
