The Ravens, Winner Best Director and Best Female Performance at NIFF 2017, will feature at the Best of NIFF screening on Sunday 24 June.

The Noosa International Film Festival is hosting an exclusive screening of short films from its 2017 festival on Sunday 24 June.

If you fancy a taste of the popular up and coming Noosa festival, this 70 minute screening with drinks and nibbles to follow is the perfect introduction.

Festival Curator, Holly Pittman has selected her favourite films for this one-time special screening.

"It was a huge challenge to narrow down my selection to eight short films – there were so many brilliant films to choose from," said Ms Pittman.

The curated short films from last year's festival are drawn from a variety of genres. From comedy and documentary, through to heart wrenching drama that simply draws you in through its outstanding cinematography.

Be warned, you will find yourself in stitches one moment, and then gazing in wonder the next, enthralled by the incredible talent on show from all over the world.

On show, the Latvian chase in Just Go! got our adrenaline pumping last year and was a worthy winner of Best Humanitarian film. Not only was the concept heart-warming and original – a young double amputee foils two thugs who steal his would be girlfriend's bag – but the action packed chase that ensued delivered incredible stunts which were nothing short of awe inspiring.

On a lighter note, Bad News from the UK won the Best Comedy prize category for its amusing take on a political skit in a pub, delivered in true "newsroom" style.

Australian comedy fans will also appreciate the amusing supermarket "fruit battle" delivered "bloke style" in Aisle 4.

Meanwhile, Aussie filmmakers Frank Magree and Paul Henri took out two prize categories in their film Sengatan, which tells the story of an Australian traveller caught up in the darkest corners of Indonesia.

Also worthy of a mention is The Ravens, also a double Award winner featuring iconic Aussie actors Jeremy Lindsay Taylor and Sarah Snook. This film highlights the problems of rural military families coping with the far reaching effects of PTSD via breathtaking and often brooding cinematography.

But this is just a taste of what is in store from this specially curated screening. The Best of NIFF 2017 Shorts takes place on Sunday 24 June from 3.30pm at the stunning Peppers Noosa Resort & Villas.

It distils the very essence of the short film program into an afternoon of the best of the best of short films, with drinks and nibbles afterwards on the Terrace and a chance to meet the NIFF team.

Attendees can also take advantage of a special deal on tickets to the upcoming Noosa International Film Festival 2018, available exclusively at this screening, and find out how you can be the first to know about what's lined up for the third festival instalment.

Tickets to the Best of NIFF 2017 Curator's Short Film Cut are $25 available now from www.niff.com.au and include screening plus first drink and nibbles.
