Director: David Fincher
Cast: Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Taraji P. Henson and Tilda Swinton
It sounds like this film is absolutely a MUST SEE. It has just been nominated for 13 Academy Awards (to be announced 21 February): it was selected in every category in which it was eligible for nomination. On top of this, to date, it has already won 6 major awards and 47 other nominations.
Director David Fincher and Brad Pitt team up for a third time with this adaptation of a F. Scott Fitzgerald short story. Pitt plays a man who is born 80 years old, but instead of aging, he grows young.
Set against a backdrop of world wars, depressions, racial segregation, moon landings and ultimately ends in the 21st century in the midst of Hurricane Katrina, Benjamin (Brad Pitt) is abandoned by his father as a newborn and he's raised in an old people's home where, as he grows up he looks just like them, but emotionally has the brain and social sensibilities of a child. He befriends a young girl called Daisy (Cate Blanchett) and their friendship becomes the cornerstone of the movie, enduring their coming of age, his curious medical disorder and ultimately the one thing that has to keep them apart.
