Everyone knew where they stood with Henry Travers - he always double-crossed them. That's how he became top of the heap in the advertising industry. He also had a wealth of women who all hated him.
So when he was found dead, floating in his giant spa-pool, it was like carnival time, everyone wanted to party. None of which helped Senior Detective John Spurway nor his sidekick Senior Detective Diana Townsend when they tried to investigate whether Henry met his end accidentally or was helped along the way.

A senior detective, due to retire within weeks, wants it to be a case of accidental drowning. The associates of the deceased would be happier if it was murder and the more violent the better. It's obvious to the investigating team that Henry Travers wasn't loved by all, except perhaps for his goldfish Hillary but Hillary died too, on dry land. It also crosses the minds of police that Henry Travers is the first person they've known of to take a spa-bath in a dinner suit.
The Ideas Pool is a comedy whodunit with enough twists to cause Miss Marple brain damage. Directed by David Berker and featuring a cast of leading players, it opens with the finding of Henry Travers floating about in his office-cum-apartment spa-pool. From there it moves into top gear as Senior Detective John Spurway and Detective Sergeant Diana Townsend, sift through a group of oddball characters who are all in high spirits over the departed.
The exceptionally strong cast includes Eddie Ellis, Lindley Moon, Linda Morgan, Frank Wilkie, Luke Lanham, Allan Royal and Cheryl Cope.
