  • Getting real about daily life
  • Celebrating the duties of daily life
  • Are you on the rat wheel of daily life?
  • Sharing daily experiences through art
  • A community art project about escaping the daily grind

Workshops are being held at the Eumundi Markets with local artists Zoe Martin and Michael Ciavarella for The Iron Cage Project.  A community art initiative which celebrates daily duties.

To participate people are encouraged to bring along a white business shirt or old birdcage to donate.  The donations will then be turned into works of art, to be exhibited as a sculptural installation later in September.

At the workshops people will be asked to write down on a shirt their thoughts and feelings about daily responsibilities such as domestic duties.

It is a chance to discuss relevant social issues while being creative and contributions will remain anonymous.

Your contribution will be part of the finished artwork

-    How you would feel if someone asked ‘have you ironed my shirts yet?’
-    What about your daily life, routine or duty gets you down?
-    How do you feel about household duties?
-    What do you like or dislike about chores?
-    Are there any differences in duties or responsibilities in your family or between partners?

The Original Eumundi Markets

Starting Saturday 13th August

‘We need to talk to each other about the repetitive things that sometimes get us down’

By sharing thoughts and feelings creatively leads to constructive change.

Reflective writing and art are tangible ways to express personal and social issues, and a constructive way of healing them.

Artists Zoe and Michael are calling upon the community to help create the sculptural art works.  Donations of white business shirts and birdcages can be given to them at the market workshops on Saturdays or by contacting Zoe Martin directly.

Zoe Martin and Michael Ciavarella are local artists living and operating businesses in Eumundi.  They are both visual art teachers and have a long standing in the creative industry on the Sunshine Coast.

It is our responsibility as artists to maintain a healthy creative community
