"The Kingdom of Hawaii and the Lolani Palace" & "Easter Island and the Moai"

The only one of the United States to have its very own royal residence, the Iolani Palace, the former Kingdom of Hawaii had brave kings and queens who travelled the world and attended monarchical events in the UK up until the dethroning of their last queen. This isolated island is closer to the UK than one might think.

A relatively strange and isolated island in the middle of the Pacific, Easter Island is most famous for its odd and often inexplicable Moai stone statues.  Nicknamed the ‘navel of the world’, the island’s carefully crafted statues reveal a people conscious of art and death.

Pauline holds a BA in English Language and Literature (Whittier), a Diploma in Law (London) and an MA in Modern French Studies (London). She lectures on a wide variety of subjects.
