Comic talents to crack-up the Coast
Exhilarating, intriguing and absolutely hilarious, one of the world's most popular comedy shows is coming to Noosa. The Comedy Roadshow is a two and a half hour showcase reflecting the range, diversity and quality offered by the best of 2007's Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF). The show will be held at The J, Noosa Junction on 23 May 2007.
The line-up features both new and established Australian acts alongside visiting artists from the Festival's international program. The J staffs are thrilled to have five of the funniest comedians from the touring cast perform at the venue. Maeve Higgins, Charlie Pickering, Sammy J, Dave Williams and Josh Thomas will perform extracts from their MICF shows, incorporating unique styles of stand-up, musical and sketch comedy to leave you in hysterics.
As Irelands loveliest new comedy star, Maeve Higgins charms audiences with her very dry and surreal sense of humour. A master of edgy comedy, Maeve Higgins will share her thoughts on fridge magnets, life and how it is for old fashioned ladies living through modern times.
According to MICF reviews, Charlie Pickering is a charismatic comedian, quality performer and natural storyteller. Dangerously funny, polished and inventive, he brings his characters to life on stage while keeping his audience on the edge of their seats.
An aspiring favourite, Sammy J took out the coveted Best Newcomer award at the MICF. Sammy J has been on the Melbourne Comedy scene for the last three years, entertaining audiences with his unique style of musical comedy. Whether he's singing a duet on his own, describing his childhood political career or performing an entire song backwards, an evening with Sammy J is rarely forgotten.
Dave Williams is regarded as one of Australia's brightest rising stars. He has graced the MICF for the past 8 years and in 2005 performed regularly on Rove Live.
At 17, Josh Thomas is the youngest comedian to have ever won the MICF' Raw Comedy competition in 2005. He has gone on to perform over 300 live stand-up gigs in Australia and overseas. After only a few short years the talented comedian has the Australian Comedy Industry buzzing with his fiercely funny views on suburban life.
The Melbourne Comedy Roadshow is at The J for one night only. Do not miss out on a fun-filled night of belly-aching laughter. To purchase tickets go onto The J website or phone 5455 4455.
