Third Place Summer Literary Celebration continues

For a unique opportunity to explore themes within iconic Australian literature, don't miss the exclusive Third Place Summer Lecture Series this month as part of Caloundra City Libraries Summer Literary Celebration.

The Summer Literary Celebration, presented in partnership with the University of the Sunshine Coast with acclaimed author Gary Crew, will offer participants an insight into some of the recurring themes within Australian literature over a series of four lectures.

Themes to be explored include the Mystique of the Sea, the Desert and the Lost Child, as well as an exploration of the craft of the illustrated book.

All lectures are fully illustrated with suggested readings available.

Session details are as follows:

• The Mystique of the Sea, Tuesday 6 November, 6pm-8pm
University of the Sunshine Coast, Science block, Lecture Theatre 4

• The Mystique of the Desert, Wednesday 14 November 10am-noon

The lecture series is part of Caloundra City Libraries innovative Third Place program, which aims to promote libraries as community hubs that offer opportunities for creativity, connection, recreation and learning, and as catalysts to personal growth.

It draws its name from a term coined by urban sociologist Ray Oldenburg, who says that most people have three places in their lives that define them - home, work and a third place.

The lecture series is $70 for all four lectures, or $20 per session, and includes light refreshments. For bookings, contact The Events Centre ph 5491 4240.
