Eumundi Markets - What's On for 2009 (and it's our 30th Birthday)
Established in 1979, The Original Eumundi Markets is Australia's premier art, craft and produce market, and we have a BIG year planned as part of our 30th birthday celebrations.
Below are some important dates for your diaries...
Thursday nights in January -- Twilight Markets
Held every Thursday night in January (December too!) from 5pm until 9pm, Eumundi's Twilight Markets are the place to spend those balmy summer nights. Enjoy street theatre and entertainment, live music, and an array of fabulous food stalls -- not to mention some of the best art and craft you'll find anywhere -- all under the stars!
Saturday 21 March -- The Original Eumundi Market's 30th Birthday Party!
It's 30 years since the first artists and craftspeople set up their stalls under the fig trees in Eumundi, and we want you to join us in celebrating this milestone birthday. We're also keen to step back in time, and remember what it was like 30 years ago. Come along to enjoy bands and entertainment with some serious 70's theming, dress up in 70's gear to be in the running for some sensational prizes, and help us indulge in a HUGE birthday cake.
Saturday 16 May -- All Well & Good
Eumundi Markets will host a health and wellness oriented day with a wide range of speakers and practitioners promoting the benefits of a healthy mind, body and spirit. Enjoy free workshops in yoga, tai chi, massage therapy and meditation, and follow an All Well & Good Trail through the market. All Well & Good is an opportunity to showcase the great selection of natural health care and alternate practitioners within the markets.
Sunday 28 June -- Eumundi FoodFest
The Eumundi Food Fest (now in its seventh year) brings together local producers, growers, chefs, restaurateurs, entertainers and food lovers with a host of cooking presentations and demonstrations throughout the day. It's a "must do" for those with an appreciation of fresh and fabulous food.
Weekend of 12 September -- Australian Body Art Carnivale
The Australian Body Art Carnivale is truly a 'Festival of Colour' centred around body art in its many and varied forms -- from face painting right through to full body painting using airbrush, sponge and brush, as well as special effects. In addition to the spectacular body art, the 2009 Carnivale feature traditional Aboriginal body painting, a Wearable Art competition and parade, a photographic competition, pavement art, a visual art exhibition, as well as life drawing and sculpture workshops.
Thursday nights in December -- Twilight Markets
Held every Thursday night in December (January too!) from 5pm until 9pm. As above ... food, entertainment, and craft galore!
