New show set to Rock Lake Kawana Community Centre
Some of the Coast's hottest young rockers will team up for a special event at Lake Kawana Community Centre later this month as part of a new initiative showcasing local youth.
The Rock Show, part of Caloundra City Council's YouthLinx 'Amped Sessions' program, will feature local bands Kizmet, Drawcard, From the Hearts of Hero's and Function Cease and kicks off at the Lake Kawana Community Centre from 1pm on Saturday 28 October
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said the focus of The Rock Show is to provide quality entertainment for rockers of all ages across the Coast.
"The Rock Show is the first of kind - a partnership between community organisations, young people and local performers to build not only an ongoing event, but also facilitate young people in event management and learn valuable skills," Cr Aldous said.
"The event not gives young performers a chance to perform as well as obtain skills in event management, it also provides quality entertainment 'homegrown' by local artists."
'The Amped Sessions' is a committee of young people brought together by Council's YouthLinx Program and Lifeline's Youth Development program who are being facilitated in hosting all age drug and alcohol free youth events. It focuses on skilling up young people and performers to be able to safely run their own sustainable youth events.
