Business Set to Breakfast with Unity Water
Water will be the topic when Small Business gets the chance to share breakfast with Unity Water on Friday October 22nd. With the cost of water a front-of-mind issue the forum is set to be an interesting end to National Water Week for the Coast's business community.
Sunshine Coast Enterprises and Unity Water are offering small businesses the chance to meet and discuss water efficiencies over bacon and eggs, and according to CEO of Sunshine Coast Enterprises Gerrie Carr-MacFie, it won't just be the coffee that's hot.
"Guests presenters will talk on the issue of water efficiencies and business will get the opportunity to respond. I am sure that everyone in the room will be switched on to this important issue," advised Carr-MacFie.
The event is part of an on-going forum convened by Sunshine Coast Enterprises aptly named The SoapBox. The purpose of the forum is to raise issues, disseminate information and provide business with an opportunity to hear from industry best practice champions, policy makers, regulators and professional experts on topics of significant interest to business within Sunshine Coast.
The forum targets members of the Sunshine Coast Chamber Alliance which is comprised of Chambers of Commerce throughout Sunshine Coast, including representation from Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland. Active business membership of the Chamber Alliance is estimated in excess of 1400 firms.
The SoapBox forum is designed to allow interaction and business participation and includes a moderated Q & A component from the floor.
According to Carr-MacFie, this interaction makes the forum an outlet for discussion and action. Based on respect for diverse opinion, and informing the growth of a stronger small business community is the quoted purpose. The previous forum on the issue of Election 2010 saw 100 businesses grill candidates for Federal office.
"Our Chambers of Commerce on the Coast are rising to the challenge of doing business in an increasingly complex regulatory and economically straightened environment. The cost of water is an issue that goes to the heart of many business operations. Containing business costs through Water Efficiencies is a necessity, not only for profitability of operations, but for our environment. The Forum is set to be an interesting venue to explore just what can and should be done by business and by the retailers around water use. It could make for an interesting morning"
