Ben Holmes' animated film 'The Surf' to be screened at BCC Maroochydore. The overall winner of the 2003 Rough Cuts Film Festival to be screened as a trailer to Billabong Odyssey for one week from March 25...
Rough Cuts Film Festival is open to all high school students on the Sunshine coast.
Last year there were more than 30 entrants from Pine Rivers all the way up to Bundaberg, 17 of those getting to the finals. Ben's film won not only the Animated Category, but was also the Overall Winner of the Festival.
The students are required to create a film in any genre, based around a theme, and it has to be under 10 minutes in length. Last year the theme was a 'mobile phone'. Nudity, drugs and other adult themes are not allowed in the films.
Every year the Rough Cuts Film Festival will have screening nights, where the finalist films are played and prizes are given out. Last year the sponsors of the festival were Birch Carroll & Coyle Cinemas (Sunshine Plaza), Betta Electrical (maroochydore), Saltwater Studios, Videopro, Coretech, AFTRS, My Sunshine Coast, Australia Zoo and the Noosa Film Society.
The judges last year were Sharon B. Gerussi, Luke Arnold and Vic Martin.
Ben Holmes' Animated Film "The Surf" was the overall winner, get down to Maroochydore and see his Film, you will be very impressed with the quality of work that a Student here on the Sunshine Coast can achieve!
