Library Launching study of suburbia
Highly acclaimed Australian writer Steven Carroll has made it onto the Miles Franklin Award short list twice (for The Gift of Speed and The Art of the Engine Driver) and now he is making it to Noosa, to launch his latest novel The Time We Have Taken at the Noosa Library on Thursday, May 24th.
The new book is described as a luminous exploration of public and private reckoning in a Melbourne suburb during the upheavals of the 1970s. The Time We Have Taken celebrates the rhythms and intricacies of suburban life and is also a meditation on its limitations, revealing the richness and complexity of one of the most common Australian experiences.
Starting time will be 6.30 pm at the Noosa Library, off the Eumundi Road/Gibson Road roundabout in Noosaville's Wallace Park. Admission will be $6.00, refreshments will be served and bookings may be made at the Library on 5442 4411.
