CREATE SOME TRULY WICKED ART + A ONE IN FIVE CHANCE TO WIN $500
The Australian Body Art Carnivale isn't just about painting human bodies. A new competition for the May 2010 event sees people invited to paint a very different body -- that of a vehicle!
That's right. The Wicked Camper Vehicle Body Art competition -- clearly sponsored by Wicked Campers -- will see five art teams do battle with their paint and art.
Event Manager Danielle Taylor says those with artistic talents have the opportunity to submit an artwork design of what they would like to paint onto a blank canvas Wicked Camper.
Templates on which to draw proposed designs are available for download on the event website -- www.australianbodyart.com.au.
"From the designs submitted, five will be chosen to enter the Wicked Camper Vehicle Body Art competition and they will paint a Wicked Camper on Saturday 15th May at the Australian Body Art Carnivale," Danielle says.
"Artists can enter by themselves if they prefer to work solo or enter as a team. So that $500 may go to an individual artist or to a team that work together," she says.
"It could be a great opportunity for community groups -- like sporting teams or scouts -- to get together to make a design and paint it on the Saturday. Apart from being a heck of a lot of fun, there's a one in five chance of winning $500 for their cause," Danielle says. "They can also put a collection bucket next to their entry while they are painting it to raise money for their organisation."
The five finalists and their painted Wicked Campers will be judged on Sunday 16th May.
"Painting a van is certainly not your average canvas!", says Danielle. "But then there's nothing very average about the Carnivale. It's about creative fun, colour and celebration of the arts."
In addition to the Wicked Camper Vehicle Art Competition, the Carnivale will see a second vehicle art event and competition... the Wicked Camper Show & Shine Competition.
Car, bike, van or truck owners with special body paintwork are encouraged to enter their prized vehicles in a very special competition. Vehicle owners -- who may or may not be the artists -- can bring their wheeled works of art to Eumundi for this Show & Shine competition on Sunday 15 May. There's a $15 entry fee, and $500 in cash and prizes up for grabs. Enter your ute, motorbike, golf cart or skateboard -- the only stipulation is that your vehicle must have a mural or graphics to be eligible to enter the Wicked Camper Show & Shine Competition.
