World Premiere Performance at the Nambour Civic Centre
An unforgettable journey of growth, redemption and forgiveness.
Directed by: Mark Bromilow Mark Bromilow (Jesus Christ Superstar, The Alchemy Project, Clark in Sarajevo)
Starring: Julie Eckersley and Jo Turner
This powerfully relevant, edgy and provocative story, takes us from Australia to Paris and back. Josie, thirty-something, professional career woman, suddenly discovers she is pregnant. In confronting the 'what to do' of her future, she must deal with the ghosts of her past. Josie is portrayed exquisitely by the incredibly talented Julie Eckersley (star of the soon to be released Channel 10 comedy series, The Wedge).
Playing a variety of roles including Josie's father is the extraordinary Jo Turner who has starred with the Sydney Theatre Co., La Boite, and on All Saints.
Set for the most part in the labyrinths and underground of the Paris metro, THE WINDOW is a masterpiece of visual theatre, evoking powerful emotions of discovery and delight. Humanity and humour prevail in this astonishing tale full of unexpected gut wrenching twists. With striking design, beautiful lighting, amazing live video, stunning musical compositions, and exceptional acting, THE WINDOW is compelling theatre at its best.
Message from the Director:
Dear friends, enthusiasts of the arts, and anyone who believes that there is more to culture than rehashed american television concepts,
With a group of amazing artists from around Australia and overseas, I am currently putting together a new, original theatre and multi-media work called "The Window". You can find out more about it on our website: www.thewindow.com.au
I am writing to say that I need you.
I need you to buy a ticket and come to see this show. What I can promise you in exchange, is that you will experience an extremely powerful and moving piece of visual theatre, a beautiful story, a mature reflection on how we deal with change in our lives.
Without you, this work is nothing. The four years of development and preparation, the time (and money) which have been expended to create this work are all in vain if audiences do not share the fragile, fleeting moment of performance. There is no second chance. I am not able to continue my professional career as an independent creator of new work here on the Sunshine Coast, or indeed in SE Qld without support.
I believe that this is the most powerful piece of theatre I have created in my thirty year career on four continents. It has been invited to Tokyo and Osaka in October to represent Australia for the Japan-Australia Year of Exchange. The "World Premiere" of this work will take place in Nambour, yes Nambour, in a few days time and we have seven only performances between June 8th and June 17th. This is your only chance to see it.
And it is our only chance to share our passion, our work, our inspiration, our art with you.
Please allow us to do so . . .
