A dilapidated Turkish Bath in London.
Six women.
The Language.
The Nudity.

Steaming is a celebration of women, by women, for all of us.

In it's time this play was considered controversial because of the nudity and language. But, it's more than that - it's about friendship, finding your place in the world and fighting for what you believe in. Set in an old Turkish Bath somewhere in the East End of London where six women of all conditions come to bare their bodies, souls and fantasies, Steaming is a warm-hearted, often humorous portrayal of women coming to know the nature of each other's lives.

They are an disparate group. There's Violet (played by Liza Park) who runs the bathhouse always ready with a towel and a listening ear. Mrs Meadow (Reyna Sharwood) and her daughter Dawn (Kym McGregor) are regular visitors for their weekly bath. They have no electricity and look forward to their only outing. Jane (Rayne Landelle) and her friend Nancy (Tricia Jones) went to school together and are now both separated with kids at school. Josie (Alli Pope) is a colourful character who swears like a trooper and enjoys nothing better than relaying the details of her love life and fantasies to the bemusement and disgust of the other women.

When they realise their sanctuary, their little bit of luxury, is about to be demolished by penny-pinching, self-aggrandising bureaucrats, they must unite to 'SAVE THE BATHS'!

The play explores compassion, self-worth, dignity, and, above all, friendship, with humour, insight and an outrageous sense of being alive.
