The Tin Can Bay sports community is being encouraged to take
advantage of the Bligh Government's free Financial Management workshop
being held in Tin Can Bay on Wednesday, 25 August 2010.
Sport Minister Phil Reeves said local sporting clubs, administrators, instructors, coaches and volunteers will be provided with useful information on the role of a sporting club's board and management in relation to a range of financial and administrative topics.
The workshop will feature presentations and good practice methods for club committee members, promoting discussion and sharing of ideas on:
* Responsibilities of Committee and Treasurer;
* Establishing financial policies and procedures;
* How to manage cash flow;
* Financial reporting and auditing;
* Risk management; and
* Getting your budget back on track in the event of a 'blow-out'.
Mr Reeves said the workshop will provide the local sports community with an ideal opportunity to increase and share their knowledge and contribute to the development of sport and recreation in the region.
"We are committed to developing more sporting opportunities for all Queenslanders," he said.
"Under Toward Q2: Tomorrow's Queensland initiative, the Bligh Government is committed to helping Queenslanders become Australia's healthiest people by cutting obesity levels by one third by 2020.
"This is why we continue to provide support for programs, projects and facilities which help people of all ages participate in sport and active recreation.
"I encourage anyone involved in sport to take advantage of this great opportunity and register to attend this valuable workshop."
