This workshop seeks to cut through the hype and present tools to better understand meditation, psychology and how we can combine them to improve our lives. For over two millennia in retreat hermitage laboratories, meditative technology has been used to test the Buddhist teachings.
This research has been published, peer reviewed and replicated by scholars and yogis who have found Buddhist practice to be a reliable technique for achieving high levels of mental health. With about four hundred years of history, science is a relative newcomer to studying the human condition yet it has made inconceivable improvements to the length and quality of our lives. Only recently has it begun studying Buddhist theories and practices to find a more complete understanding of people and how they relate to the world.
This workshop teaches Buddhist theories and practices that are points of intersection in the growing field of 'contemplative science'. It examines the possible pitfalls the field is facing as it progresses and its stunning potential to impact human lives in the future.
