The Sippy Downs & District Community Association is hosting a public community meeting on Wednesday 10 April at 7pm to update residents on key issues.
Councillor Christian Dickson will speak on parking issues in the Sippy Downs education precinct. At the ordinary meeting on 28 March, Sunshine Coast Regional Council endorsed a recommendation to enter into an agreement with the University of the Sunshine Coast to regulate the university’s paid parking system. SDDCA President Laurent Devos said, “We are pleased that, at the commencement of the six month trial period which will see council enforcing parking on the university campus, Cr Dickson will be updating the community on this issue. Also speaking on this topic will be council’s Executive Director of Community Services, Coralie Nichols.
Council’s Executive Director of Regional Strategy and Planning Warren Bunker will give an update on the much anticipated Sippy Downs Town Centre. Council recently adopted a temporary local planning instrument which will expedite the planning and delivery of the town centre, including the Business and Technology Park. In addition to stimulating economic development and employment, the town centre will provide a wider range of retail and commercial services for residents.
Mark Bradley, Director Facilities Management, University of the Sunshine Coast will also attend to provide an update on the university.
The impact of Noosa de-amalgamation will also be addressed and Sgt Brett Young, Sippy Downs Police will provide a local police update.
An update on the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and other relevant state issues will be provided by Jarrod Bleijie MP, Member for Kawana, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.
There will also be an opportunity for questions from the floor.
Mr Devos said, “All are welcome to attend. We extend this invitation to anyone interested in hearing about this high growth area and the new hospital at Kawana. Refreshments will be provided after the meeting.”
